Appointment of Rev. Fr. Bhagyaiah ‎Chinnabathini, New Bishop of Guntur Diocese (25-6-2016)

His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Fr. Bhagyaiah Chinnabathini, of the clergy of Nalgonda, as new Bishop of Guntur.
This ecclesiastical provision was made public in Rome on Saturday, 25th June, 2016, at noon local time, corresponding to 15:30 hours, Indian Standard Time.
Rev. Fr. Bhagyaiah Chinnabathini was born in Motakundur –Yadagirigutta Mandal, in the Diocese of Nalgonda, on 19th September, 1956. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at St. John’s Regional Seminary in Hyderabad, obtaining consequently a Master of Arts at the Osmania University in Hyderabad and a Master of Education at Annamalai University in Chennai. He was ordained a Priest on 3rd May, 1983 for the Diocese of Nalgonda. He has exercised his priestly ministry in the following assignments: Assistant Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Church, Lingampally (1983-1984); Parish Priest of Annunciation Church, Silveru, and Christ the King Church, Jedcherla (1985-1986); Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, Bhimaram (1987-1990); Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Church, Kethepally (1990-1995); Assistant Parish Priest of St. John the Baptist Church in Herford, Archdiocese of Paderborn, Germany (1995-1996); Director of the Kolping Centre and of the Diocesan Youth Centre of the Diocese of Nalgonda (1996-2001); Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Church, Kodad (2002-2003); Assistant Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Church in Dover, Archdiocese of Southwark, Great Britain (2003-2005); Assistant Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Church in Cremlingen, Diocese of Hildesheim, Germany (2005-2006); Parish Priest of Sts. Cosmas and Damian Church in Bilshausen, Diocese of Hildesheim, Germany (2006-2008); Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Church in Hannover, Diocese of Hildesheim, Germany (2009-2011). Since 2011 he is Parish Priest of St. Infant Jesus Shrine in Miryalaguda, Diocese of Nalgonda.
