Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal
Most Rev. Giambattista DIQUATTRO
The Most Reverend Giambattista Diquattro was born in Bologna (Italy) on March 18, 1954. He was ordained a priest in Ragusa on August 24, 1981. He received his Master’s Degree in civil law from the University of Catania, his Doctorate in Canon Law (JCD) from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, and his Master’s Degree in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
He joined the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See on May 1, 1985, serving continuous missions in the Pontifical Representations in the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Chad, the United Nations (in New York), and later in the Secretariat of State of His Holiness – Section for Relations with States, and in the Apostolic Nunciature in Italy.
On April 2, 2005, Saint John Paul II appointed him Titular Archbishop of Giromonte and Apostolic Nuncio to Panama. His Episcopal Ordination took place on June 4, 2005, in the cathedral of Ragusa, and he began his mission in Panama on July 12, 2005.
On January 21, 2017, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal.
He presented his Credential Letters to H.E. Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President of the Republic of India, on March 29, 2017 and to H.E. Bidhya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal, on June 5, 2017.
He is fluent in French, Spanish and English.
